The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps Project has been a neighborhood effort to create a beautiful mosaic running up the risers of the 163 steps located at 16th and Moraga in San Francisco.

Sponsored by the San Francisco Parks Trust, artists Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher started working on the project in January 2003. The mosaic staircase was completed on August 18, 2004 with the help of over 300 neighbors and over 220 neighbors, who sponsored handmade animal, bird and fish name tiles.

To get to the Mosaic Steps you would take the bus from Golden Gate Park and then get off around 16th avenue. Approaching from 16th avenue you can immediately see the Mosaic Steps as they ascend to Grand View Park.

Tank Hill San Francisco is a great place if you want some peace and quiet and a breathtaking view. It’s a must see! Tank Hill is one of San Francisco’s secret treasures. Its name comes from the Clarendon Heights Water Tank built in 1894 by the Spring Valley Water Company to store drinking water pumped from Laguna Honda.

The hill’s rich native plant community contains larval food plants for endangered butterflies as well as habitat for garter snakes, alligator lizards, western meadow larks, kestrals and hawks. The spring wildflower show is one of the city’s most spectacular sights as the hill changes colors from yellow in March, to purple in April, to pink in May. Tank Hill is a fragmented natural habitat, meaning that it is an island of natives surrounded by an ocean of exotic plants.

The Transamerica Pyramid San Francisco is an iconic image for San Francisco. It was designed by architect William Pereira. According to the architect, the pyramid is the ideal shape for skyscrapers, offering the practical advantage of letting more air and light in the adjacent streets.

The base of the building contains a total of 16,000 cubic yards of concrete and over 300 miles of steel rebar. Forty-eight stories or 850 feet tall, it was among the five tallest buildings in the world when it was completed in 1972. The building owes its sparkling white color to the layer of crushed quartz that covers the rest of the building.

It is a great pleasure to announce that Adante Hotel Union Square is commencing with remodeling of our hotel’s main lobby area in the coming days. The upcoming renovation is based on the hotel’s name, Adante, which refers to a musical term used to describe a moderately slow tempo inspired by Classical Music.

The color palette chosen for the Adante Hotel Union Square is enthused by piano keys and gold was an accent to bring more color into the space. The essentials in the space are elegant and classical, such as wood, marble, soft gold finishes, and tufted upholstery. The new space will have much more seating for breakfast and the lounge area will serve alcoholic beverages for guests who want to lounge in the lobby.

The entire renovation phase will take about six to eight weeks, so we expect the completion to occur in May.

We hope you are as excited as we are at the Adante Hotel Union Square. For reservations and other hotel details, please visit: http://www.adantehotel.com/

Ocean Beach San Francisco is a great place to go if you enjoy spending time outdoors, and are looking for a place to get away from the crowds. Stretching roughly 3.5 miles along the west end of the city. Even San Francisco residents, who live on the other side of town, don’t often make their way out here.

Ocean Beach San Francisco is popular among locals for all kinds of outdoor activities, including surfing, kite surfing, kite flying, walking, bonfires, watching the sunset, and hanging out with your dog to name a few.
